The problems of current laryngeal masks
Current laryngeal masks have only one drainage structure, which cannot well prevent reflux and aspiration, and the incidence of reflux is as high as 33%. Reflux aspiration can easily obstruct the patient's airway, and acidic gastric juice can damage airway mucosa and other tissues, causing complications such as bronchospasm and aspiration pneumonia. Severe aspiration can lead to respiratory failure.
